Smoke alarm company recalls defective product

Smoke alarms are essential to help prevent house and building fires that can be utterly destructive in West Virginia. However, if a smoke alarm company produces a defective product, this can have serious consequences. Some individuals recently purchased smoke detectors that may end up proving worthless in the event of a potential fire. These devices are now being recalled throughout the United States.

The recall covers Interlogix and ESL smoke alarms, which are hard-wired. These alarms have the potential to malfunction as a result of radio frequency interference. This malfunction may cause the smoke alarms to fail to warn consumers about a fire.

The specific smoke detectors being recalled include the ESL as well as Interlogix 400 series and 500 series. These detectors were hard-wired by professionals between March 2013 and Feb. 2014. The devices work with fire alarm or security systems in houses, dorms, apartments, motels, hotels, schools and commercial buildings. Those who believe they have the detectors being recalled are encouraged to contact their fire or security system companies.

When people purchase products such as smoke detectors in West Virginia, they expect these devices to be high-quality and reliable. A defective product can easily result in a person becoming injured or losing his or her life. If a person suffers injuries after using a dangerous product, he or she has the right to file a product liability suit against the company that manufactured it. A suit may also be filed by the family members of an individual who has been killed as a result of using this type of product. They can demand financial damages sustained by using the hazardous item.
