West Virginia residents may have stove with fire hazard at home

Bad things always seem to occur at the worst possible time. This appears to be the case for West Virginia residents who may have recently purchased a gas fireplace or stove from Hearth & Home Technologies for the upcoming winter. This is because the company has filed a recent recall due to a fire hazard for roughly 20,000 faulty products.

The recall is actually for more than just propane and natural gas outdoor and indoor fireplaces and stoves. It also pertains to log sets and gas inserts. Outdoor Lifestyles, Heatilator, Heat-N-Glo and Quadra Fire are all the included brands.

Apparently, the gas valve on these defective products can leak. This can lead to the potential of a fire, which could cause injury to users as well as property damage. For those who own these items, it is crucial to stop using them and ensure no gas is being supplied to the fireplace or stove. They can be returned where they were purchased for an inspection and valve replacement for free.

At this time, it does not appear that any injuries or damage have been reported. However, this doesn't mean that no one has been injured or property has not been damaged due to the apparently defective products. For those who have suffered an injury or damage due to the faulty fireplace or stove in West Virginia or across the country, a product liability claim may be an option to seek recovery of costs associated with medical bills, property repairs and other related damages.
