Pretzel dogs said to be defective product, recalled nationwide

For many West Virginia residents, it may seem as though a new recall is released every single day. While this may not necessarily be the truth, the fact is that a defective product is recalled more often than most people would like. This is because when a product is recalled, it means that there was something wrong with it. This further means that consumers are at risk for adverse reactions and injury.

Over one million pounds of pretzel dogs are being recalled by the manufacturer. The product apparently contains soy lecithin. Unfortunately, that allergen is not a listed ingredient on the product.

The Pennsylvania manufacturer of these pretzel dogs issued the recall after becoming aware of the undeclared allergen. The pretzel dogs were sold between mid-Feb. through mid-Nov. The recall impacts all frozen pretzel dogs, including the Auntie Anne's brand, but it does not affect the products used by Auntie Anne's stores inside airports, malls, grocery stores and various other nationwide venues.

At this time, the manufacturer has not received any reports of injury. However, it may still be possible. For West Virginia residents who think that they have contracted an illness or injury after consuming these frozen pretzel dogs or any other possible defective product, it may be wise to take the time to become familiar with what legal options may be available. When successful, a legal claim can hold the manufacturer responsible for its mistakes while also possibly providing injured victims with a monetary award that can help cover medical expenses and other costs related to the unfortunate -- and preventable -- incident.
