Dangerous home products may pose fire hazards

When people in West Virginia purchase products from retailers or online, they expect the products to be dependable and safe. Unfortunately, this doesn't always happen, with dangerous home products having the potential to cause harm or even lead to death. A couple of products are currently considered to be hazardous to consumers.

One product is a Cool Draft misting fan by the company Ventamatic. The fans go atop Igloo coolers or water tanks that can hold 40 gallons. These products have been sold on several online sites as well as at home security and fire retailers, home improvement shops and hardware stores from 2013 to 2014. The fans feature improperly grounded wiring that may pose a fire and electric shock hazard. The recall affects about 450 of these products.

A second product being recalled is a tankless water heater by Quietside and Coaire. These water heaters were sold on different websites and at stores nationwide from 2008 to 2014. The heaters have the potential to overheat and thus can cause a fire. Nearly 30,000 of these heaters have been sold in the United States.

Customers who end up getting hurt as a result of dangerous home products may feel violated, as they have put trust in the companies manufacturing these products. If people get hurt due to defective products, they have the right to take legal action against the manufacturer. They may demand financial damages incurred as a result of using the products, which might help to pay for their related medical bills and even address pain and suffering stemming from use of the products in West Virginia.
