West Virginia car crash leads to 5 deaths

Multiple people lost their lives recently in an unfortunate accident in West Virginia. The car crash took place after 8 a.m. It involved two vehicles on Interstate 77.

Police said the incident happened when a vehicle was going north on the interstate. The driver then lost control of the vehicle on wet pavement. Police said it went toward the road's cable median and crashed through it.

A pickup truck that was going south on the interstate ended up striking the first vehicle broadside. The first automobile then caught fire. Five of the six people inside the first vehicle were killed in the crash; meanwhile, the sixth individual and the person driving the pickup truck were transported to the hospital with injuries deemed not to be life-threatening. The victims ranged in age from 14 to 50.

The family members of any passengers who died in the car crash may choose to file wrongful death claims in this case. In addition, the driver of the pickup truck that hit the first vehicle might decide to file a personal injury claim. If the driver of the first vehicle ended up passing away in the accident, this person's estate can still be sued, and so can any separate owner of the vehicle he or she was operating. If this driver was disobeying a road rule or driving in a negligent way -- for example, going too quickly for road and weather conditions -- proof of this may be presented in an effort to establish liability in civil court. Only then will a judge determine claims for financial damages in West Virginia.
