Auto defects in Jeep Grand Cherokees may cause airbags to deploy

Most people assume that the parts on their car have been carefully designed and manufactured to ensure that drivers and passengers are kept safe at all times while inside the vehicle. Unfortunately, errors occur and auto defects can put the entire family as well as others on the road in danger. When those using West Virginia roadways have been injured or have lost a loved one due to an auto design or manufacturing flaw, it may be possible to file a claim in civil court to pursue recover of financial damages. This may be something to consider with one of the most recent recalls related to auto defects.

Roughly 228,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees have recently been recalled. The affected year models are 2014 and 2015. The recall is related to unnecessary deployment of the airbags.

Apparently, there is a glitch in the software that causes the airbags to deploy and inflate even though the vehicle has not been in a collision. Safety regulators report that the most common time for the airbags to unnecessarily deploy is when the Jeep has changed orientation, such as off-roading. This is extremely dangerous, and affected consumers need to take their Jeep into the closest dealership for recalibration immediately.

Products liability law in West Virginia is complex and can be overwhelming. Each situation associated with auto defects is entirely unique, and it is important to know how to protect oneself. Gaining an understanding of the applicable laws and seeking professional assistance to protect important legal rights can significantly help a victim in his or her fight against a car manufacturer and/or other parties in the consumer supply chain.
