Teenage boy loses life in West Virginia car wreck

It is naturally disheartening to find out that a loved one has died in a car wreck, especially if the accident happened through no fault of his or her own. Unfortunately, these types of accidents often occur when a driver behaves negligently behind the wheel, such as speeding or driving while distracted. One family in West Virginia is currently facing this scenario following a car wreck. The accident led to the death of a teenager.

The fatal crash took place on a recent Friday night in mid-April. According to police, a 19-year-old boy was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the accident. The car ended up crashing along Route 94 in West Virginia.

Police said the woman driving the car lost control of it and ended up striking a cliff. She suffered injuries deemed to be serious and was transported to the hospital. Meanwhile, the teenage boy died in the accident. Police continued to investigate the crash.

The woman who apparently lost control of the vehicle and ran into the cliff might be held liable in this situation if the surviving loved ones of the teenage boy decide to file a wrongful death suit against her. A West Virginia civil court would ultimately determine whether to award compensation if liability is satisfactorily established by a preponderance of evidence. Compensation may help the dead boy's grieving family to pay for his burial costs and address other financial ramifications of the car wreck. It may also help to address emotional distress caused by the tragic motor vehicle collision by giving the family a sense of justice.
