Defective products recalled include bicycles and vacuum cleaners

A product a person purchases to make his or her life easier or more enjoyable may actually end up decreasing his or her quality of life due to a defect. West Virginia consumers may benefit from learning that a few products have recently been recalled due to hazardous defects. The defective products include vacuum cleaners, as well as bicycles.

Vacuum cleaners manufactured by Shark were recently found to pose the risk of electric shock to users. This is because the machine's wand, connected to the handle, has the potential to disconnect from the machine's handle. The upright Rotator Powered Life-Away cleaners being recalled are purple or maroon and feature a middle section made out of clear plastic. The vacuum cleaners were made available online, as well as at retail establishments, such as Target, Lowes and Best Buy. So far, there have been more than 60 reports of the wand disconnecting from the cleaner's handle.

The second recall involves Trek bikes from model years 2000 to 2015. Officials said a defect may cause the bike's front wheel to suddenly stop, thus potentially injuring the rider. There have been three reported incidents involving this bike defect. In all three cases, people suffered injuries, and one actually became a quadriplegic as a result.

Serious injuries can occur when a product is not manufactured properly. These injuries may not only cause pain and suffering, as well as emotional distress, but also they can result in hefty medical expenses or even the loss of income. People who are victims of defective products in West Virginia may rightfully file personal injury claims against the product manufacturers, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages sustained as a result of using the harmful products.
