Defective household products by kettle company may cause burns

Manufacturers of products have a duty to ensure that their goods are safe for public use. Unfortunately, no matter how hard they try to adhere to this standard, sometimes defective household products end up in consumers' hands and lead to injuries or even death. People in West Virginia may be affected by a recent product recall involving defective kettles.

The company that offers the kettles, Epoca International, recently issued a recall of thousands of its kettles. This is because officials learned that the kettles' glass can break. The bottom part of the glass has the potential to break when the kettle is heated, thus posing burn and laceration hazards.

The recall impacts more than 110,000 Primula glass kettles; these kettles feature black or green plastic handles. So far, Epoca International has gotten nine incident reports, including a report about damage to property and reports of three injuries. The kettles were sold at several sites, including Ross Stores, Meijer and Target as well as Kitchen Collection. These coffee pots were also sold at PrimulaProducts.com, Amazon.com and Target.com, between 2012 and 2015. The products may be returned to the retailers that sold them.

When customers in West Virginia get hurt after using defective household products, this can cause not only physical scars but also emotional scars, as the customers might lose trust in the manufacturers of these products. It can also cause financial challenges in the form of hefty medical bills. The injury victims have the legal right to file product liability claims against the product manufacturers, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages stemming from the use of the dangerous products.
