This week's defective household products include gym equipment

It is not uncommon for individuals right here in West Virginia to want to stay on top of their fitness. However, it can be extremely difficult to make it to the gym, so many turn to home fitness equipment. Unfortunately, defective household products do occur, and this can include exercise equipment that individuals have in their homes.

In fact, over 4,000 arm curl exercise machines by Cybex International are being recalled due to the potential risk of injury. Apparently, the equipment features swivel handles, which can become dislodged from the frame of the equipment. This poses the risk of injury to the head or face.

So far, Cybex International has received reports of over 100 incidents. According to the news, a dozen of those incidents involved injuries. One of the injury incidents resulted in the user losing eye sight in one of their eyes.

There are four models of arm curl machines that are impacted by this recall. The models include VR2, VR2TA, BR3 and Eagle. The model name can be found on the top of the exercise machine, which was manufactured and distributed between November 1996 and October 2008. The cost of these machines ranged from $3,700 to $4,200.

For West Virginia individuals who are severely or permanently injured in any way due to defective household products, such as exercise equipment, it may be possible to file a lawsuit against the manufacturer of the equipment. These manufacturers have a duty to ensure that they design and produce a piece of equipment that is safe for consumers to use. When they fail to do this, they can be held accountable, and victims can possibly receive financial remuneration for the damages incurred as a result.
