1 dies in head-on car crash in West Virginia

A car accident in West Virginia has resulted in the death of one man. The head-on car crash happened on a Monday afternoon. The tragic accident, which involved a pickup truck and a car, took place along Route 60.

Police said that when the man was driving around 1:45 p.m., another vehicle breached the road's center line. The man, a well-liked elementary school custodian, died in the collision. Meanwhile, the driver of the car that allegedly struck him suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital where he was expected to be all right.

The head-on vehicle accident left several people in the school system distraught. Further details regarding the cause of the head-on accident were not immediately available. Route 60 closed down following the crash.

The surviving family members of the custodian who was killed may choose to sue the driver who police said went over the middle line and struck his vehicle. They have the right to pursue damages, which -- if achieved -- might help to cover the man's funeral costs and other expenses tied to the car crash. For instance, a monetary award may help to cover future lost wages or lost companionship and even the loss of income for surviving dependents. It may also help to address pain and suffering as well as emotional distress stemming from the accident. Competent proof of negligence is required to establish financial responsibility in type of civil case; only then will a judge decide claims for financial damages in West Virginia.
