Defective products in leaf blowers, LED lamps

When products are not manufactured properly, the results can be life changing in a negative way for the consumers who use these products. A couple of products that West Virginia residents may have purchased were recently recalled. These defective products include leaf blowers and LED lamps.

Two 12-amp leaf blower models by Craftsman have been recalled because the motor of the blower has the potential to catch fire. This, of course, poses a fire and burn hazard. There have been seven reports regarding the blowers catching fire, with one injury being reported. Nearly 74,000 of these blowers are affected by the recall. They were marketed at stores such as Sears and ACE Hardware between January of 2013 and October of 2015.

LED lamps marketed under the Great Value Brand and TCP names have also been recalled. The 14-watt lamps were recalled because water might enter them in wet locations, which may possibly cause a person to suffer an electric shock. Nearly 25,000 of the LED lamps were sold in the United States between May of 2015 and October of 2015. No incidents have been reported.

If defects in products are not caught early enough, they may cause debilitating injuries or even the loss of life among consumers. Even if companies have announced recalls for defective products, customers in West Virginia may have already suffered harm due to using the products. In these situations, it is within the rights of an injured victim or the surviving family members of a deceased victim to file liability claims against the product manufacturers to seek damages that -- if awarded -- may help them to cover the losses suffered as a result of using the dangerous products.
