Some West Virginia homes may contain defective household products

West Virginia consumers are likely to have any number of tools and appliances in their homes. From kitchen equipment to lawn mowers and other power tools, daily life often involves using purchased products to complete chores and home-maintenance projects. Unfortunately, some homeowners have been severely injured or made ill because of defective household products. Many have suffered injuries while using common everyday items.

Seven separate reports have recently been filed regarding Craftsman 12 amp blower/vacuum tools that have apparently caught fire during use. A recall has been issued for two different models of the product. ACE Hardware, Sears and other stores nationwide typically sell the product for $50-$100.

The blower/vac is manufactured in China. There are approximately 74,000 of them currently available in the United States. Because of the apparent risk for personal injury during use of the product, consumers are advised to take advantage of the recall by requesting a full refund by contacting a hot-line number that has been made available to the public.

Depending on the situation, injuries suffered from defective household products can be quite severe. Victims sometimes require ongoing medical care and rehabilitative assistance in the aftermath of an accident involving such products. West Virginia residents may be pleased to know that the law allows them to seek justice in such circumstances by filing product liability claims in court. A manufacturer, retailer or other in the line of distribution can be held legally accountable for knowingly placing a defective product into the hands of consumers. A first logical step to take when considering filing a legal claim would be to contact an experienced attorney in the area.
