Defective products such as pressure cookers recalled

When consumers are hurt by products with defects, the manufacturers of these products may be held accountable for the consumers' injuries. A couple of defective products that were recently recalled may impact consumers in West Virginia. The recalls cover pressure cookers and candle holders, among other items.

The pressure cooker being recalled is the Breville stainless steel cooker, which has a capacity of six quarts. The cookers were sold between September of 2012 and October of 2015 and cost around $180. Consumers purchased these pressure cookers from Amazon.com as well as stores such as Macy's, Best Buy, and Bed, Bath & Beyond. These devices have been recalled since their sealing gaskets may be improperly inserted upside down; this may allow built-up pressure to unexpectedly be released and thus cause burns.

Tealight candle holders called John Snowball Esq. have also been recalled. Each candle holder looks like a snowball that has a face featuring a top hat and cigar. The top hat part of the candle holder has a hole whose diameter is too tiny; this may lead to the build-up of heat, thus posing a risk of fire. The candles cost around $20; they were purchased at stores such as Victorian Trading Co. from September of 2014 to October of 2015.

Even if product recalls are issued, consumers in West Virginia may have already been injured by using dangerous products. Product defect-related injuries may keep people from being able to return to work to earn a living for a while and might also result in hefty medical bills. It is within the rights of such individuals to file product liability claims, seeking damages that may help to cover the costs associated with the use of defective products.
