Man dies in car accident in West Virginia

A man recently lost his life in a vehicle crash in West Virginia. The car accident took place on a Wednesday. The man who died was a fireman who was off duty at the time of the crash.

The vehicle wreck took place along Route 119 at a little before 10 a.m. When police arrived at the crash scene between two intersections, they reportedly found the firefighter's car mangled. They said the car was off the route near the on-ramp for Interstate 68.

The 41-year-old man who was in the car suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. After reconstructing the accident, authorities preliminarily determined that the man's car was hit by a truck that a 67-year-old man was driving. The truck driver was reportedly attempting to make a left turn from Route 119 to get onto eastbound Interstate 68 when the accident happened. He was taken to the hospital with injuries deemed not be life threatening.

A left-turn accident is usually always considered the fault of the motorist making the turn. If the police's investigation of the recent West Virginia car accident reveals that the truck driver was indeed at fault in the accident, he may be held liable for the other man's death. The surviving family members of the deceased man have the right to file a wrongful death claim against the truck driver in this situation, seeking damages. A court will decide claims for damages if liability is established by a preponderance of the evidence, based upon a showing of negligence.
