Chests from Walmart are considered dangerous products

Sometimes products that end up on store shelves in West Virginia or are sold online are not really suitable for customers to have in their homes, as they pose hazards that can cause injury or death. One product that was recently recalled is a child's dresser. These dangerous products are being recalled since they can easily fall over and injure a child.

The recently recalled chest features four drawers and is designed to go in a child's bedroom. It is a Storybook brand chest, which Walmart.com exclusively sold online between April of 2016 and June of 2016 for nearly $100. The maker of the white laminated chest is Sauder Woodworking.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, 8,000 of the dressers are being recalled. These products are said to be unstable if they are not anchored to walls properly. Because of a manufacturing issue, the easy-to-tip-over dressers fail to comply with a voluntary safety standard. Sauder Woodworking has been trying to contact the chest purchasers and send them complementary repair kits as well as wall-anchoring kits, although customers may also get full refunds if they prefer.

Companies are expected to sell products that are safe for consumers in West Virginia and other states to use. If people are hurt or killed as a result of using dangerous products, it is within injured parties' rights to file personal injury claims against the product manufacturers, while deceased individuals' families may choose to file wrongful death claims. A monetary award in a case that is fought victoriously may help to cover burial expenses or a long period of physical rehabilitation and recovery depending on the circumstances surrounding the case.
