4 injured in car accident on US 220 in West Virginia

For many people in West Virginia, driving is second nature. Most people drive the same roads day in and day out and come to know every curve and bump. This familiarity may be helpful, but it can also lead to a car accident. Being familiar with the road can cause some people to let their attentions wander, and that is when mistakes can happen.

It is those mistakes that lead to accidents. According to the West Virginia State Police, a driver heading south on U.S. Route 220 recently near Keyser drifted across the center line into the path of a northbound vehicle. The resulting crash sent four people to the hospital. Two people were seriously injured and two suffered moderate injuries.

The crushing force of the impact was such that one person in each vehicle had to be cut out by firefighters. Authorities originally called for helicopters to transport the seriously injured, but it was decided that ground transportation would be faster. The current conditions and extent of each individual's injuries were not available at the time of this post.

Being involved in a serious car accident can be a life-changing experience. Even long after physical injuries are healed and vehicles are fixed, there can be lasting effects. The time it takes physical injuries to heal alone can take weeks or months, depending on the injuries. During that time, medical bills and lost wages can add up quickly. All parties involved in an accident may benefit from taking the time to find out what their rights are under West Virginia law when it comes to personal injury claims and possible civil litigation.
