Head on collision cause of West Virginia motorcycle accident

Riding a motorcycle on the West Virginia roads can be both fun and beautiful. The fresh mountain air can be liberating and give a rider a sense of freedom. However, that freedom can come with a price. Injuries from a motorcycle accident may be more severe than if the rider had been in a car.

In a car or larger vehicle, a head on collision can be survivable, depending on the circumstances. The risk of serious injury or death increases dramatically for a motorcycle rider. For instance, a West Virginia man riding a motorcycle was involved in a head on collision and died as a result of his injuries. The accident occurred when a Ford Explorer lost control and veered back onto the road into the path of the motorcycle.

Authorities were not initially releasing the name of the victim pending notification of his family. All that is known is that he is from Princeton, West Virginia. Once the family is notified, and the shock of his loss wears off, they will have some decisions to make.

Whether authorities issue any citations or file any charges against the driver of the Explorer in connection with this tragic motorcycle accident, the family retains the right to file a wrongful death action against the driver based upon allegations of negligence in a manner that caused the fatal collision. Seeking advice to have all of the information they need to make this decision may help. Having to cope with their grief and all of the questions and emotions that go along with it can make it difficult to focus on anything else. As reality sets in and normal, everyday life begins to intrude on their grief, the family may be ready to make their decision.
