2 injured in multiple car accident in West Virginia

| Feb 18, 2013 | Car Accidents

It is important that every driver in West Virginia follow the rules of the road. When drivers neglect to follow those rules and fail to exercise care when they drive, accidents happen. One driver apparently failed to follow the rules of the road, and it led to a three car accident.

That driver was heading west on Route 460 when the driver ran a red-light. As the vehicle entered the intersection, it smacked into another vehicle that was turning left onto eastbound Route 460. The first vehicle then continued on to strike another vehicle sitting at the stop light on the eastbound side of the highway.

The driver of the vehicle that ran the red light had to be taken to the hospital to be treated for unspecified injuries. A passenger in that vehicle had to be taken to the hospital by helicopter due to having sustained serious injuries. The current condition of both the driver and the passenger is unknown. It is also unknown whether the occupants of the other two vehicles suffered any injuries.

Citations have not been issued as of yet pending the completion of the investigation being conducted by the West Virginia State Police. As the passenger recovers, that individual will have to decide whether to exercise the right to file a personal injury claim against the driver. Expenses such as medical bills and lost wages can add up quickly after a car accident. If the passenger is able to show that the driver was negligent and that the driver’s actions caused the passenger’s injuries, the court may award the victim those costs and damages sustained as a result of the accident.
