West Virginia car accident lands both drivers in the hospital

The West Virginia State Police is investigating an accident that occurred recently on Rich Mountain. The two car accident injured two people. Officials had to set up a landing zone at a nearby high school in order to allow a helicopter to land in order to transport the injured drivers to the hospital.

The accident occurred on Route 33 through Randolph County. For an as yet unknown reason, a Ford traveling down Route 33 drifted into the oncoming lane of traffic. Unfortunately, a Subaru was traveling in the opposite direction of that car and they collided.

The driver of the Subaru is listed as being in good condition at an area hospital. The extent and nature of her injuries is not known. The nature of the injuries sustained by the driver of the Ford and that person's current condition are not known either.

As the West Virginia State Police continues its investigation into this car accident, the drivers are left to recover from their injuries. It remains to be seen whether any charges or citations will be filed against the driver of the Ford. Regardless of whether that happens, the driver of the Subaru is entitled to file a personal injury claim against the other driver. If the injured party is able to provide evidence to the court showing that the other driver was negligent and that the driver's negligence caused or contributed to her injuries, the court may award her the costs and damages she has incurred as the result of her injuries. Expenses such as medical bills and lost wages are examples of costs that can be recovered in such an action.
