Motorcycle trooper is thrown after car pulls into his path

Many people are aware of motorcyclists on West Virginia roads. However, sometimes other drivers overlook motorcycles, which can be dangerous for those who ride them. Motorcyclists have the same rights to the road as any other vehicle and they should feel safe and secure as they travel, just like any other motorist. Unfortunately, many times an accident involving a motorcycle can leave the rider seriously injured or even end in death.

A state trooper on patrol suffered serious injury recently after a car hit the police-issued motorcycle on which he was traveling. The driver of the vehicle in question, an 86-year-old man, reportedly emerged in front of the officer’s path from a side street. The man was not injured in the collision.

It is not known at this time why the man entered the officer’s path or if he saw the officer before the impact, however, he has been charged with failure to yield the right of way. Although the officer’s injuries were not reported to be life threatening, he was thrown from his bike upon impact with the car and he was seriously hurt.

If the man was negligent or impaired in any way the officer could be entitled to compensation for the injuries he suffered and for any lost wages or disabilities encountered because of those injuries. When someone is hurt in a motorcycle accident many times he or she is the victim of someone else’s carelessness. In that case, the driver of the motorcycle might want to speak with an experienced motorcycle accident attorney to see if he or she is entitled to fair compensation.
