Car accidents happen every day throughout the country. Sometimes those accidents can be the cause of serious injuries and even death. If someone has been injured in an auto accident in Charleston it’s important for him or her to know his or her rights.
The West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) is facing a lawsuit from a man who claims that an employee of the WVDOT acted negligently and caused his injuries in a motor vehicle collision in Parkesburg. The man who was hit is suing for damages for the pain and injuries he suffered, as well as for his medical expenses and other economic losses and damages.
The man claims that the WVDOT should be held responsible because the driver of the vehicle with which he collided was operating a WVDOT vehicle when the crash occurred. The suit claims that the man in the WVDOT vehicle acted negligently when he made a left hand turn and allegedly pulled in front of the plaintiff. The plaintiff claims that he did not have time to avoid the WVDOT vehicle and therefore collided with it. As a result of the collision the plaintiff was injured and his car ended up on its side.
If a court finds that the driver of the WVDOT vehicle was responsible for the accident then a judge or jury could hold the WVDOT responsible for the plaintiff’s injuries. If a person has been injured in a collision he or she may want to speak with an experienced auto accident attorney.
