Authorities say alcohol played role in serious car accident

Anytime an auto accident occurs in West Virginia there can be serious consequences. When alcohol is involved those consequences can be even worse. Knowing all of the factors that are in play when an alcohol-related accident occurs is very important for any one who has been in such an accident.

A mother and her 6-year-old son were both seriously injured after the BMW they were traveling in was struck by a pickup being driven by a man who was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the accident. The driver of the pickup was also hurt, but both he and the woman in the car he hit have been released from the hospital. However, the woman’s young son was still being treated at the time of this report.

The driver of the pickup has already been arraigned and charged for driving drunk and for changing lanes illegally. He reportedly crossed over the double yellow line and collided with the BMW before both cars careened in different directions. The stretch of road where the collision occurred is one of the few places on the state route that is straight; visibility is also unobstructed in that spot.

When someone is hurt in a car accident there are so many details that need to be accounted for. Having an attorney who is well versed in dealing with auto accidents can help a person get fair and just compensation for his or her injuries. An experienced attorney knows how to deal with insurance companies and what steps to take to get the most compensation possible. If the man in this incident is found guilty of driving drunk a jury could award the woman and her son compensation for their pain and suffering.
