Woman dies after motorcycle is hit by an SUV

| Jul 25, 2013 | Motorcycle Accidents

Motorcycle accidents can be very serious. Many West Virginia drivers are aware of motorcyclists on the road, however sometimes drivers of other vehicles overlook motorcycles and don’t give them the necessary respect on the road that they deserve. When that happens the consequences can be devastating.

A woman traveling on her motorcycle was killed after her bike was run into by an SUV. The 49-year-old woman was airlifted to the hospital but later died from her injuries. The accident happened when the driver of the SUV reportedly pulled in front of the woman’s motorcycle. She was thrown from her bike and collided with the SUV.

It is not known at this time why the driver of the SUV, a 35-yer-old man turned into the motorcycle’s path. Authorities have not said whether or not alcohol may have a played a role in the crash. Likewise, there have been no reports of vehicle malfunction. Investigators continue to gather evidence as they try to determine the cause of the accident.

When a person is the victim of a motorcycle accident because of another person’s negligence he or she may be entitled to compensation for his or her injuries. At the same time, if a person dies because of an accident, then his or her family and loved ones may want to pursue legal action in behalf of the deceased person. Speaking with a motorcycle accident attorney can be a very good idea for anyone who finds his or herself in this type of situation.
