Woman in critical condition after being hit by SUV

| Jul 5, 2013 | Car Accidents

Auto accidents are never a good thing, especially when they involve injuries or fatalities. Unfortunately, sometimes drivers in Charleston are not as cautious as they should be and that can lead to accidents. Car accidents can cause serious injuries, but they can be even worse for those close by who are not in a vehicle.

A serious car wreck occurred recently in which at least nine people were injured. According to witnesses at the scene an SUV appeared to be trying to make it through an intersection before the traffic light switched to red. Upon entering the intersection the SUV collided with a van. One woman was reported to be in critical condition, after she was found underneath one of the vehicles. Three of the injured people were walking nearby the intersection when the crash occurred. A total of nine people were taken to the hospital.

Authorities are still trying to determine the cause of the crash and it is not known at this time how fast the SUV was traveling or if the driver of the SUV entered the intersection after the light turned red. Reportedly the traffic light was slammed into and it ended up on top of the SUV.

The victims of this incident could file lawsuits against the driver of the SUV, if he or she is found to have acted recklessly. Any accidents that involve pedestrians or that cause serious injuries can be devastating. Speaking with an experienced injury attorney could be beneficial to any person that is injured in such an accident.
