Car accident results in injuries to 2 in West Virginia

A passenger in a vehicle literally trusts the car's driver with his or her life. After all, the passenger has no control over the speed or direction of the vehicle. If the driver is careless and/or loses control of the vehicle, the passenger is at risk for suffering critical injuries. Others in or near the roadway also may suffer injuries. One individual is in this situation following a major car accident in West Virginia.

This incident revolved around a pickup truck operated by a 36-year-old man on Route 15. The truck struck several road signs and then collided with a parked car. This car ended up in a tanning salon building due to the force of the impact.

The driver and his passenger, a 45-year-old woman, suffered injuries and were transported to the hospital. The authorities expressed concern that the injuries they suffered were internal. Police continued to investigate what happened to cause the wreck, although the speed of the vehicle appears to have been a contributing factor.

The passenger who was injured in the car accident may elect to file a civil claim against the vehicle's driver. This is particularly true if it is confirmed that the driver engaged in some form of careless behavior, such as speeding or driving while distracted. A civil court typically decides monetary damage claims if financial liability is appropriately established through proof of negligence. Financial restitution from a victoriously navigated lawsuit can help to cover hospital expenses, lost wages and other monetary damages tied to the West Virginia wreck.
