A recent car accident led to the death of a young man and injuries to another in West Virginia. The car wreck happened early in the morning on a recent Saturday. According to police, a driver was navigating a pickup truck when the vehicle turned over and ended up in a creek.

Both the driver and his 21-year-old male passenger were ejected from the vehicle. The passenger passed away at the crash scene, police said. Meanwhile, the driver suffered many internal injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Authorities claim that the man’s condition remained stable at the hospital. The accident happened after the two had left someone’s birthday party. Friends of the two accident victims said the two had been drinking alcohol at the birthday party; police continue to investigate the accident.

The man who was driving the pickup truck might face charges if he is found to have been driving under the influence of alcohol, or he may be cited if he is thought to have disobeyed another traffic law. He might also face a wrongful death lawsuit if the family members of the deceased passenger choose to sue him. The family can seek the reimbursement of monetary damages caused by the car wreck, which might include funeral costs or even the loss of support. Monetary compensation can’t bring a loved one back in West Virginia. However, it may help to address the surviving loved ones’ emotional distress and pain and suffering, thus enabling the family to move on from the painful incident.
