Siemens fire alarms touted as defective product, recalled

West Virginia residents are well aware of the fact that they need to have at least one fire alarm on each floor of their home. Fire alarms are designed to provide protection to individuals inside the home by sounding an alarm when a fire occurs. Unfortunately, when the fire alarm doesn't sound because it is a defective product, it can lead to a very dangerous situation.

Siemens has recently recalled roughly 9,000 audible fire alarms. The reason for the recall is due to the fact that they may not sound in the event of a fire. This can lead to serious property damage and the possibility of personal injury.

Consumers are being told to contact Siemens as soon as possible for a free replacement of the audible base. Siemens is taking matters into their own hands and are actually contacting known owners directly. At this time, it is said that no injuries or incidents have been reported. However, this could change now that the recall has been made official.

When a fire alarm is installed in one's home and it malfunctions, it is important that West Virginia residents understand that they do have rights. A products liability claim can be pursued against the manufacturer if there is a defect in the design. This would be the case with these audible fire alarms from Siemens.

Accidents that occur due to a defective product are 100 percent preventable. For that reason, manufacturers of products, such as this fire alarm, should be held responsible for the harm that their faulty product may have caused. A successfully litigated claim may provide victims in West Virginia with financial restitution for medical expenses, property damage, disability, emotional stress and physical pain and suffering.
