Over 200,000 wall mounts that were sold by Costco have been recalled. Apparently, these wall mounts are now considered a dangerous household product by many West Virginia residents and others across the country. This is because of a defect in the television wall mounts that prevents the units from functioning properly.
The problem is with one of the nuts in the assembly. The nut is part of the main arm. It can become loose, which results in the possibility of the TV falling from the wall. This poses a significant risk to children and animals who are underneath it at the time of the fall. It is also a potential safety issue for adults during installation or even afterward.
So far, two people have reported incidents related to the defective wall mount. Luckily, only one has reported suffering an injury. However, the extent of the injury was not disclosed by the source.
For consumers who have this wall mount, a free repair kit can be obtained from Milestone. Milestone is the manufacturer of the flat screen TV wall mount. This kit is supposed to contain the necessary pieces that, when installed, will fix the safety issue.
Manufacturing companies that design and build household products are expected to follow certain safety measures to ensure that their product is safe for consumers to use. Unfortunately, this does not always occur, and a dangerous household product is purchased and used by consumers in West Virginia and elsewhere. In some cases, this can result in a serious injury to the consumer, or even death. Individuals who have been injured because of a defective product, and the families of fatal victims, do have legal rights. A successful litigation may even provide the victim or their family with compensation for the financial damages sustained as a result of the injury.
