Woman dies in car wreck after vehicle lands in creek

One woman sadly lost her life in a watery crash that occurred recently. The West Virginia accident took place on a Sunday afternoon at approximately 3:20 p.m. near a Putnam County creek. With so few details known in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy, the victim's family is likely questioning how such a seemingly preventable car wreck could have occurred.

It was reported that the woman was riding in the vehicle with a man, though it is not exactly clear which individual was driving. The automobile suddenly flipped and ended up being submerged in Hyzer Creek. Apparently, it had been totally under water for five minutes when emergency personnel and firefighters arrived at the accident scene.

After working for about a half hour, the woman's body was recovered from the vehicle. She was taken to the hospital, where officials pronounced her dead. The man who was inside the vehicle was able to quickly escape and thus survived the crash. Authorities continued to investigate the cause of the accident.

The family of the deceased woman will surely want to know exactly what occurred to take her life. They may benefit from seeking advice and guidance concerning their rights and responsibilities regarding the fatal car wreck. If the man who escaped the vehicle was the one driving, he may face a West Virginia wrongful death claim commenced by the victim's family. To prevail, the family would need to prove by a preponderance of the evidence that the man was negligent in a manner that caused or directly led to the fatal crash.
