Defective products by Dream On Me may cause child injuries

Parents in West Virginia who have purchased Dream On Me play yards may be interested in learning that several thousand of them are being recalled. This is because there is a possibility that a child could experience strangulation when using these defective products. Consumers are encouraged to stop using them and to get in touch with Dream On Me for a complementary repair kit.

About 10,000 of the company's play yards are known to pose the strangulation hazard. This is because their rails can collapse, which puts kids at risk. As yet, no injuries have been reported in connection with the play yards.

The products being recalled have two levels and can have their height adjusted. They feature a powder-coated steel frame base and also have hooded casters that roll. In addition, they have a mesh and fabric covering available in different colors. The product also has a top for changing diapers, a bar featuring soft toys and a pocket on the side for storing and carrying items. The products were marketed at several places, including WalMart, Toys R Us, Kohls and Amazon, as well as at other retailers online.

Consumers in West Virginia who buy products assume that the products will be safe for them and their children to use. When children end up injured as a result of defective products, their parents may choose to file product liability claims against the company that made the products. Although product recalls are designed to prevent people from being injured by the products, sometimes these recalls are issued only after someone has already been injured. A monetary award from a successfully litigated claim might help the victim or the victim's family cover medical expenses resulting from use of the defective product.
