Candles from Hobby Lobby labeled defective products

Some of the most attractive and useful consumer products unfortunately can pose serious safety hazards in West Virginia. One product that was recently recalled was a specialty candle sold by Hobby Lobby. The candles, sold throughout the United States, are known to feature a high flame that may ignite the wax's surface -- thus potentially causing a fire -- and thus have been labeled defective products.

The recall comes from the company CoScentrix and involves various types of candles with single wicks. Some candles come in Mason jars, some come in coffee tins, others come in decorative jars, and still others come in jars featuring a holiday theme. These candles come in various colors and fragrances and were sold in stores and online between June and October of last year; the cost was $6 to $20.

Consumers are encouraged to quit using these candles and return these products to the closest Hobby Lobby store. There, they will get either a store credit or a refund with a receipt. CoScentrix can provide instructions on what consumers should do if they purchased the candles online.

Individuals who are hurt in West Virginia after using defective products may feel violated and seek justice. They have the right to explore all of their options to legally correct any wrongdoing that has been committed by the product manufacturer; this includes demanding financial damages incurred by using the defective products. In order to succeed in such a civil case, the plaintiff must prove that the defendant's negligence materially contributed or caused the incident leading to the plaintiff's injuries.
