Fire extinguishers recalled as dangerous or defective products

Most people here in West Virginia assume that when they make a purchase of a product that the product is not only safe to use but completely functional as well. However, with more and more recalls, it is becoming more evident that not all products placed on the shelves for consumers to purchase and use are safe and functional. In fact, one may suffer serious injury and/or property damage due to one of the most recent dangerous or defective products not operating as it should when activated.

Kidde has recently recalled 4.6 million of its disposable fire extinguishers. The reason for the recall is because they are not discharging as they should in a fire emergency. There may be a defective valve component that is causing the problem.

At this time, Kidde has received nearly a dozen reports of fire extinguishers failing to properly discharge when the lever is pressed. Luckily, Kidde hasn't been informed of any injuries. However, with the severity of the situation, this could easily change. For consumers who have a disposable fire extinguisher made by Kidde, it is important to determine if the model is included in the recall and to obtain a replacement immediately.

Victims of dangerous or defective products here in West Virginia may suffer emotional, physical and even financial harm. Luckily, products liability law is in place to help protect consumers who become victims of defective designs and manufacturing. The applicable laws are often confusing, and consumers are best served by seeking professional assistance in pursuing important legal rights.
