Nissan, BMW recall vehicles after finding fuel pump auto defects

When a part or system on an automobile fails while on the highway, it can result in a catastrophic accident. Such an accident can result in serious injuries or possibly even the deaths of the individuals involved. Auto defects in a seat belt, airbag, brakes, engine or fuel system are all things that could lead to accidents, injuries and deaths in West Virginia.

BMW and Nissan are currently recalling roughly 94,000 vehicles. The recall is for 18,000 BMW vehicles, including some 2015 model 4 series and 2014 model 2, 3 and 4 series. It also covers about 76,000 Nissan Rogues from the year 2014.

Apparently, the recall is due to an issue with the fuel pump. The fuel pumps have defective nickel platings that can result in the pumps failing for no apparent reason. This can result in the vehicles stalling, which can increase the possibility of car accidents occurring and consumers being unnecessarily injured.

While most people think accidents are always caused by reckless driving or poor weather, some accidents can be caused by auto defects. For West Virginia individuals who suspect that auto defects caused their accidents and subsequent injuries, it is crucial to have an investigation conducted immediately to get to the truth. If it is determined that an auto defect or design flaw contributed to an accident, an injured victim or the family of a deceased victim has the right to pursue a products liability or wrongful death claim against the manufacturer of the car or auto part. A successful claim can result in monetary damages for the pain and suffering one has experienced, as well as financial compensation for any past and future medical expenses resulting from the tragedy.
