Strollers part of dangerous or defective products recall

One of the most recent recalls in West Virginia concerns products intended for the care of young children. A popular baby stroller manufacturer has recently recalled over 70,000 seats and strollers because of their potential of being dangerous or defective products. The recall comes after the company became aware of the foam from the crossbar coming off in certain instances and posing a choking hazard.

This recall is covering the 2015 line of the Cruz and Vista strollers as well as the separate RumbleSeats. These strollers come in either black or gray frames. The seat has a black fabric over it. There is a canopy made out of colored fabric, and there is a black basket located beneath the seat. The RumbleSeat is actually separate from the stroller, but it can be attached to its frame.

The strollers and seats were sold at various retailers, such as BuyBuy Baby and The products began selling to consumers in December 2014 and were only pulled off the shelves this month. The strollers cost anywhere between $500 and $860, while the seat costs around $170.

So far, the company has received nearly two dozen reports of pieces of the foam bumper bar being bitten off of the front of the seat by a child. Luckily, no injuries have occurred that UPPAbaby is currently aware of. However, the risk is high that the issue could create a choking hazard. Therefore, consumers need to remove the foam bumper bar immediately and request a free cover from UPPAbaby.

When any of the dangerous or defective products on the market today result in a serious injury, it may be possible for the victims to file a lawsuit against the manufacturer and other responsible parties. If the injured individual is a child, a parent can file on his or her behalf. Evidence will be necessary for a claim to be successful, which means West Virginia residents will need to prepare a solid case that provides sufficient proof of negligence in order to hopefully obtain a monetary settlement.
