A couple of children's toys are defective products

A couple of recent product recalls may impact West Virginia consumers, particularly those with young children. The products being recalled include some infant clothing and children's toys. Suffering injuries as a result of these types of defective products is grounds for a product liability lawsuit.

One product recall involves a one-piece garment featuring three snaps at the bottom. The neck part of the garment has a blue tag that is sewn into it, and on this tag is an elephant along with the words Precious Cargo. The outfit's left inside seam also has a label with the phrase CAR40 printed on it. These garments were marketed as promotional items with community organization or corporate logos on the front between July 2014 and July 2015. According to the company, the garment's snaps have the potential to detach, thus possibly causing young children to choke.

The other product recall involves a toy called My Snuggly Ellie Activity Toy. It is a plush brown elephant with crinkle ears that are white, and it also has a green hanging loop attached to the top. The elephant's stomach also has a small mirror, and the bottom of the toy contains a hanging wooden ring and teething ring. The toy, which features the item number 212520, was marketed at baby stores and specialty stores throughout the United States between February 2014 and May 2015; it was also offered for sale online. The toy's wooden ring has the potential to break into tiny pieces, creating a possible choking hazard.

Defective products can cause physical injuries in addition to causing emotional distress. Customers in West Virginia and elsewhere whose children are injured by defective products have the right to assess all of their legal options in order to right any wrongs committed by the product manufacturer. This may include demanding monetary damages sustained by using the harmful products.
