Auto defects in Ford trucks lead to recall

People who have purchased vehicles in the past few years in West Virginia may be affected by a current recall of certain pickup trucks in the United States. Ford has decided to recall a little more than 26,000 trucks found to have auto defects. The recall stems from the fact that some front seat belts in the affected trucks might not be positioned correctly.

According to the company, both center seat and passenger seat safety belts in the front of the trucks might not be anchored in their proper spots relative to the seats. The Ford recall covers F-750 and F-650 trucks. The trucks being recalled are those specifically from the model years of 2015, 2013 and 2011.

The incorrect placement of the seatbelts may increase a passenger's risk of suffering an injury in a vehicle crash. The company said that so far, there have been no reports of injuries or crashes resulting from this defect. Ford said engineers were developing procedures to repair the issues in the trucks, which were manufactured in Mexico between 2011 and 2015.

Auto defects can cause serious problems, ranging from debilitating injuries to loss of life. Unfortunately, even though car companies may issue vehicle recalls, it may be too late for consumers who have already been impacted by the defects. In this scenario, it is within the rights of an injured victim or the family of a deceased victim to file a civil lawsuit, pursuing the reimbursement of monetary damages tied to the use of the dangerous vehicle in West Virginia. A monetary award in a case that is successfully litigated may help to cover medical bills and/or funeral costs, along with other documented financial losses, depending on the circumstances surrounding the case.
