Tripping, slip-and-fall accidents can cause major injuries

Slipping and falling or tripping on a business's property in West Virginia can lead to unexpected injuries that can temporarily prevent a person from leading a normal life. In some cases, tripping and slip-and-fall accidents cause permanent injuries to an individual. One woman in a different state said she fell at a grocery store due to the store's carelessness, and she recently filed a lawsuit against the establishment.

The woman said she was shopping at the grocery store on a Thursday and ended up tripping on a rug. The woman said the store negligently allowed the property to become dangerous to customers since it put a defective rug on the floor. She also said the company did not properly repair the defective rug and the area of the store where she fell.

The company is also accused of not inspecting the business's premises or taking action to prevent the woman's injury. The woman said the company, for instance, should have placed barricades or issued warnings. The woman said her fall caused her to suffer pain and anguish as well as internal and external injuries. She said it has also kept her from performing her usual duties and resulted in medical expenses.

Grocery stores and other businesses that cater to the public in West Virginia have a duty to make sure that their properties are free of hazards. Unfortunately, this does not always happen, and customers end up falling and hurting themselves. Victims of tripping accidents or slip-and-fall accidents have the right to explore all of their legal options in an effort to hold these businesses accountable for any injuries that happen as a result.
