Pacifier clip maker Chewbeads recalls defective products

Parents of young children in West Virginia may be interested in learning that certain pacifier clips have recently been recalled. The defective products are made by Chewbeads. Over 50,000 of the clips are being recalled since they pose a choking hazard; to date, 45,000 of these clips having been sold in the United States.

This baby product recall involves five styles of the pacifier clips. The choking hazard stems from the fact that the clip's "D" ring has the potential to break, allowing the beads to detach. So far, the company has received seven reports of detaching beads, although there have been no reports of injuries.

Consumers are encouraged to stop using these clips and to get in touch with Chewbeads for a complementary replacement clip. Customers may also request a refund. The clips were sold throughout the United States at boutique retail shops and at Buy Buy Baby from September of 2014 to June of 2015.

Consumers trust manufacturers to create products that are safe for them to use, but this does not always happen. When defective products end up harming customers, this can lead to financial losses such as major medical costs. The injured customer has the right to file a product liability lawsuit against the product manufacturer, seeking the reimbursement of damages sustained as a result of use of the dangerous product. A financial award may help to cover related monetary losses as well as help to address pain and suffering and emotional distress caused by the ordeal in West Virginia.
