Auto defects in Honda Fit lead to recall of 25K hatchbacks

Honda drivers in West Virginia might be affected by a recent recall of the Fit. Auto defects associated with this type of vehicle are said to affect more than 25,000 units of the automobile in the United States. The problem has to do with a bracket attached to the rear grab handle.

Officials said the bracket was not manufactured properly. This means the bracket has the potential to puncture the vehicle's side curtain airbag during the airbag's deployment. Honda has agreed to replace the bracket for free.

This bracket issue was discovered while the company was doing some internal testing, not due to reported incidents. The issue impacts Fit hatchbacks from the model years of 2015 and 2016. These vehicles were produced between April of 2014 and July of 2015. It specifically affects the Fit hatchbacks that do not come with sunroofs and are in the LX trim level. The recent recall is the third one to affect the Fit in the past few months; in October, a whopping 143,000 Fits, as well as Civics, were recalled due to an issue involving the transmission.

Auto defects can pose serious hazards, as they may lead to major injury or even death in certain situations. Auto recalls certainly help to remove dangerous vehicles from the road, but sometimes a person ends up getting injured or dying before an auto defect is appropriately addressed. In this situation, it is within the rights of an injured victim, or the deceased victim's surviving family members, to pursue damages through a civil claim in West Virginia.
