Car wreck causes 2 deaths, 2 injuries in West Virginia

A deadly crash recently took place in West Virginia in Cabell County along Interstate 64. Two people passed away, understandably leaving grieving family members with questions about how the crash occurred. In addition, two other individuals, including a baby, suffered injuries in the car wreck

Police reported that an 18-year-old woman was driving west on the roadway close to 8 p.m. on a Tuesday night. Near a mall exit, the car hydroplaned. This caused her to go over the median and strike an oncoming car head on. The teenage driver died instantly as a result of the crash.

The 48-year-old male driver of the other car passed away as he was transported to the hospital. A woman who was in the vehicle with him suffered critical injuries and was transported to a medical center. A 9-month-old baby in the same vehicle suffered a broken leg. Authorities continue to investigate the collision.

The family members of the man who died in the car wreck may opt to file a wrongful death claim in this case. Meanwhile, personal injury claims may also be filed due to the woman's and baby's injuries. Even though the woman who is believed to have caused the head-on collision by going over the median is deceased, her estate may face litigation. In addition, any separate owner of the car she was driving at the time of the accident may be added as a defendant. Monetary damage claims will be determined in a West Virginia court once liability has been adequately established.
