Defective Products Include Blenders and Pencil Sharpeners

 | Dec 4, 2015 | Personal Injury

When products that are designed to help consumers end up causing them harm, injured consumers have the right to seek to hold the makers of these products accountable through the legal system. Multiple products that consumers in West Virginia may have purchased have been recalled. These defective products include blenders, trimmer tools and pencil sharpeners, among others.

A dozen models of blenders by Ninja have been recalled because they pose a laceration risk to consumers. Consumers can be cut if they invert or pour the pitcher after taking off the lid while the stacked blade assembly remains inside of the pitcher. The blenders were sold in multiple stores, including Walmart, Target, Macy’s and Costco.

Other items that have been recalled are trimmer tools by Stihl. These tools include edgers, brushcutters and pole pruners. The problem with these items is that the gas tank vent may become dislodged because of an improper factory installation. As a result, fuel may leak, which poses a fire hazard. Electric pencil sharpeners by Bostitch are also being recalled, because their electric components have the ability to energize the sharpeners, which poses a shock hazard.

People in West Virginia may suffer injuries as a result of defective products, and these injuries can negatively impact their quality of life. The injuries may be serious enough to prevent them from being able to return to work for an extended period of time. Individuals who find themselves in this situation have the right to file liability claims against the product manufacturers. A claim that is successfully navigated may result in monetary relief for the plaintiff.
