Costco Tealights Are Deemed Defective Products

A seemingly harmless product may end up causing a person to suffer serious injuries or even result in someone’s death. This can happen as a result of a product defect that was not caught in time. West Virginia consumers who are seriously injured by defective products may choose to take legal action against the producer of the hazardous goods.

One product that was recently recalled is a Costco Wholesale tealight warmer set that is made of ceramic. The tealights are known to burn with a high or erratic flame, which poses burn and fire hazards. More than 200,000 of these sets were sold between the months of Aug. and Oct. 2014.

The sets feature four candles and four wax cube sets along with a warmer including a dish made from glass and a stand made from metal. The warmers are either white or brown. Twenty-two reports have been made regarding the tealights’ high flames, with one incident leading to minor damage to property and two incidents leading to minor burns.

Injuries suffered as a result of using defective products in West Virginia can negatively impact a person’s life; for instance, the individual may not be able to work for a time if the injury is serious, thus causing a loss of wages. The cost to treat such injuries may also be a burden to the victim. The injured party has the right to seek the reimbursement of financial damages, which — if achieved –may help to address any financial ramifications of the use of the dangerous products.
