Big Lots Recalls Defective Household Products: Hanging Chairs

 | Jun 19, 2015 | Uncategorized

West Virginia residents who have recently purchased furniture from a local Big Lots will want to read this blog post. There is the chance that residents here in West Virginia have one of the most recently recalled defective household products at their homes. In fact, these products that have recently been recalled are likely to be popular for use right now since it is summer.

Big Lots has recently recalled one of its hanging chairs. Apparently, there is a fall hazard. Roughly 16,000 of these chairs have the potential to tip over if the chair is faced sideways and swings beyond the chair’s base.

These chairs were sold between December 2014 and January 2015 for roughly $300. The chairs are constructed with brown plastic wicker mesh and have red cushions. Consumers are advised to stop using these chairs immediately and contact Big Lots for a complete refund.

So far, Big Lots has received eight separate reports of these chairs failing in the stores. Consumers often try chairs like these out in the store before they actually purchase them, and this is when those eight incidents occurred. Five of these incidents resulted in minor injuries to the consumers who were testing the hanging chairs.

Designers and manufacturers of products have a duty to ensure that they are creating a safe product for consumers to purchase. When they fail to do so, it can result in significant injuries for consumers that can have a negative impact on their overall business and reputation. West Virginia residents who have suffered injuries from defective household products are entitled to pursue compensation via product liability civil claims.
