Kids’ Balance Bikes Recalled as Dangerous or Defective Products

 | Oct 1, 2015 | Dangerous Or Defective Products

West Virginia residents may be interested to hear that roughly 400 bicycles are being recalled by Wishbone Design Studio after it became aware of a potential injury issue with the bike. Apparently, children can gets their fingers pinched between the frame and the handlebar. This makes these bikes some of the latest dangerous or defective products on the market across the nation.

Right now, there are two models that are affected by this recall. The first is a two-wheel model that has a seat that can be height adjusted, which was sold for $200. The second is the 3-in-1 model that has an adjustable high or low seat and can also be adjusted to be a three- or two-wheel cycle, which was sold for $230. The date codes for the affected models are December 2013 and May 2014, which can be found just beneath the seat on the frame.

The company has received several reports of incidents so far. Two of the incidents have required medical intervention. One victim required stitches and the other victim had to undergo restorative surgery to repair the injury. Owners of these bikes are advised to stop using them immediately and contact the store where the bike was purchased or Wishbone directly for a free handlebar cover.

Nothing is 100 percent childproof, but West Virginia parents should not have to worry about a defective design seriously injuring their children. Consumers are entitled to protection under consumer protection and product liability laws when they are injured as a result of dangerous or defective products. For West Virginia residents who find themselves in unfortunate situations in which products have caused injuries, it may be possible to seek and obtain compensation for pain and suffering with professional legal assistance.
