Britax baby car seats considered dangerous or defective products

West Virginia readers may want to take note that Britax, an infant car seat manufacturer, has recently issued a recall for some of its car seats. At this time, the company has received 74 separate reports of various incidents involving the dangerous or defective products. Apparently, the car seat handles are susceptible to breaking, cracking or fracturing, which is what has prompted Britax to issue the recall. Luckily, Britax has only received confirmation of one infant being injured due to the defect in the car seats so far.

Two different Britax car seat models are covered by the recall: the B-Safe 35 and the B-Safe 35 Elite. These products were designed and manufactured between Oct. 1, 2014 and July 2015. They were sold at various online and land-based retailers, including Amazon and Target, among others. The seats were sold for between $210 and $250.

Consumers who have their car seats registered with the company will receive a repair kit free of charge without needing to anything. It will automatically be sent. For consumers who have not registered their car seats, make sure to do so immediately. Britax reports that the car seats can still be used on a stroller or in the vehicle safely.

When West Virginia parents purchase car seats, they surely don't anticipate that they may be purchasing dangerous or defective products that could potentially cause their baby irreparable harm. When an avoidable injury does occur due to a product defect, parents have the right to pursue a products liability claim against the manufacturer and other parties in the supply chain to the consumer. Legal counsel can examine the facts of the case and help parents determine what options may be available to them to pursue claims for financial relief.
