4 sent to hospital by car accident

An accident involving multiple cars recently led to several injuries in West Virginia. The car accident sent four people to the hospital. Two of the injured accident victims had to be transported to the hospital by helicopter.

Police received a call about the accident at about 11:56 a.m. on a Monday in mid-March. The accident took place along Route 47. According to police, a van was going east and breached the road's center line. At that point, it crashed into another vehicle, which was an SUV.

A car that was traveling behind the SUV struck both vehicles following the initial collision. Two people were taken to two separate hospitals by helicopter. Meanwhile, the other two were taken to the same hospital via ambulance. No injuries suffered were life-threatening. No charges had been filed at the time of the report, but police said they planned to charge the van's driver in the accident.

In addition to potentially facing criminal charges, the van driver may face civil claims filed by the four people injured in the accident. The injured parties have the right to file personal injury lawsuits, seeking the reimbursement of damages sustained in the crash. A successful outcome may lead to the awarding of damages that may help to cover their hospital bills, loss of wages and other expenses tied to the injury car accident in West Virginia. However, liability must be established in a manner that pleases the civil court hearing the case -- based upon competent proof of negligence -- before claims for financial damages will be adjudicated.
