Parents whose babies love pacifiers likely have several different pacifier brands around the house, along with pacifier clips that keep them readily accessible. However, one pacifier brand, Munchkin Latch, is currently being recalled, which may affect some parents in West Virginia. A total of 180,000 of the dangerous products are being recalled.

Part of the reason for the recall is that the pacifier clip features a small plastic cover that may fall off and thus poses a choking hazard since babies naturally like to put everything in their mouths. A minimum of 10 complaints were filed prior to the recall, with five of these complaints coming from consumers in America. The problematic pacifiers/clips were sold from March 2014 to March 2016 online at Amazon.com as well as at major retailers such as Buy Buy Baby and Target.

Babies at this point have not been injured by the recalled pacifier. However, the recall has been issued since choking is among the leading causes of the loss of life for children between 12 months and 5 years old. A free replacement of each recalled product or a refund is being issued by Munchkin.

People in West Virginia naturally trust that products that are on store shelves or are available online have been tested and proved safe to use. This is not always the case, however. If consumers become injured due to using dangerous products, it is within their rights to file liability claims against the makers of these faulty products, seeking the reimbursement of damages. A damage award may help to cover an injury victim’s medical costs and other related losses.
