Software may help traumatic brain injury victims with vision

While a brain injury can lead to cognitive and physical issues, such as mood changes and loss of balance, it can also result in sensory problems. For instance, it is not uncommon for people to suffer from vision issues after suffering traumatic brain injury. However, therapy may help to improve vision problems stemming from brain injury.

New computer software has been developed, along with a large touch screen, to help to improve problems with visual perception and hand-eye coordination. In West Virginia and elsewhere, the software may additionally assist with visual clarity and visual reaction time. This particular technology is known as the Sanet Vision Integrator.

The computer system costs $8,000. In addition to helping people who are suffering from brain injury, it can additionally help those suffering from Parkinson's disease and others who need to enhance their balance and memory. A goal of using this technology is to help patients' eyes to work efficiently so that they may read better.

Brain injuries typically have long-lasting consequences. They can easily result from a split-second accident in West Virginia. Often, these accidents are the result of someone else's negligence, such as a driver's carelessness or a property owner's failure to keep up his or her property free of dangerous hazards. In these situations, the person suffering from a traumatic brain injury may decide to file personal injury claims against the party or parties deemed responsible for their injuries. Monetary compensation in a successfully litigated claim may help a victim to cover his or her ongoing medical costs and other monetary losses related to the brain injury.
