Auto defects found in Jeep, Ram, Chrysler vehicles

Drivers of Jeep, Ram and Chrysler vehicles in West Virginia may be affected by a recent recall of 410,000 of these automobiles worldwide. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has recalled these vehicles due to auto defects involving software and wiring. These defects have the potential to cause the impacted vehicles to stall.

Included in the voluntary recall is the 2015 Jeep Renegade, Chrysler 200 and Ram ProMaster City as well as the Jeep Cherokee from 2014-2015. According to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the issue is that a wiring harness has an inadequate crimp, which can result in a code indicating a solenoid fault. This, in turn, can prompt the vehicle's engine to stop.

So far, there have been no reports of death or injury as a result of this issue. However, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has issued the recall since the sudden loss of power in a vehicle engine may lead to a collision. The automaker intends to replace any affected vehicle's wiring harness and then update the vehicle's software. More than 320,000 of the affected vehicles have been sold throughout the US.

Auto defects are major problems in West Virginia because they can compromise the safety of the vehicles and lead to accidents. If a person is injured due to driving a faulty vehicle, he or she has the right to file a product liability claim against the automaker, pursuing damages. In the same manner, if a person loses his or her life as a result of an auto defect, the person's surviving loved ones may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the car maker, seeking financial damages resulting from the use of the dangerous vehicle.
